Hello 915 Spring Garden

Graduation from PAFA and thesis show is in the rear view mirror. Packing and curating stuff is nearly down, and almost all the bits and pieces have migrated to the new space on the 2nd floor the 915 Building on Spring Garden. My new studio mate, Brad Carney, an amazing Philly muralist offered to share and divulge all his murally wisdom to me. The light is great, the location fantastic. Located between home in Northern Liberties and PAFA, where I will still be spending time, likely with the welder and in the foundry (fingers crossed).

So, the big question that everyone loves being asked, what’s next? - well, it is continuing to do all the things I have been doing, continuing my practice. That includes working with water color, likely cutting paper into strips, weaving it and sewing it. Sewing paper in general, creating pieces that speak to our connection, our shared energy and are also both 2D and 3D. With bright colors that call to us, and textures that delight our touch (yes, you can touch my work, always).

Additionally, I plan to continue to work with the various collection of bike parts I have; welding them, cutting them, helping them turn into something that also conveys our connections, and is both a joy to see and hold.

Octo arm 9 - the bronze Pavel arm that I cast this spring will receive attention to finish chasing the metal, and then receive a patina, then also will be looking for a home. Ideally that arm will find a spot that is worthy of public art, and is a joy for it to suddenly be there - thinking the underside of an overpass, or building ledge…ideas welcome…

Pavel. Pavel needs a home, he is looking to both visit, as well as be permanently adopted - he too wishes to gift joy and delight of both his form, and his tactile nature. His forever home will need to be in Philadelphia, and in a community wanting to welcome him in, and deserving of public art. Ideas on the table so far include Shriners Hospital, a community garden in Fishtown, a NE rec center that is being renovated.
